"No." Shelmaine denied it, though she found it laughable herself.
She was practically mocking Samuel as well as herself.
"Your tone doesn't sound like you aren't angry," Samuel said.
He remembered Shelmaine as someone who was gentle and had a good temper. She'd used to be affectionate and sweet with him too.
Now, Shelmaine simply bit her lip and remained silent.
From what she knew of Samuel, he would either take full responsibility or, like during their divorce, offer compensation and have the child terminated.
He would likely choose the latter.
But Shelmaine couldn't bring herself to terminate the pregnancy, and she didn't plan to force him to take responsibility either. After all, she was capable of raising the child on her own and could handle the consequences.
Thus, the decision to keep or terminate the pregnancy was hers alone, not his.
