On the other end, Sylvia seemed to be in the middle of a bustling city, as her voice was nearly drowned out by the background noise.
"Hudson, can you come to the train station in Adenville? I have a surprise for you," she shouted excitedly.
Adenville? The train station? I was confused. A terrifying thought crossed my mind.
I shook my head, trying to dispel it.
How was it possible? How was it possible? It was ridiculous. Why would Sylvia be in Adenville? She had a job, and a busy one at that. There was no way she would have time to come here.
Despite my doubts, I decided to go check it out.
I made up a quick excuse to Selena. Though she was not happy by my sudden departure, she was bound by our previous agreement, so she reluctantly let me go.
"Hudson, don't you run away from me," Selena said as she looked me in the eye.
It had crossed my mind, but I knew it wasn't a real solution. Even if I left, Selena would eventually find a way to pull me back.
