Tristan & Evelyn: Wedding Present
After a moment of contemplation, Tristan handed the letter back to her.
Evelyn’s cheeks flushed a deep shade of red as she hastily read the entire letter.
Her mother knew her better than anyone, and she had always known about Evelyn’s unwavering love for Tristan.
But she hadn’t expected her mother to mention it in the letter.
While she was fine with Tristan knowing her feelings, she worried he might misunderstand and think it was all part of her deliberate plan.
After pondering for a while, Evelyn slowly raised her head to meet Tristan’s gaze. ‘I didn’t know my mother wrote this. I never read the letter before.’
‘I know,’ Tristan said.
‘Well, I’m going back to sleep,’ Evelyn said, bidding him good night and swiftly retreating under the covers, turning her back to Tristan.
The room fell into a hush, so quiet that Tristan could almost hear the rhythmic beating of Evelyn’s heart.
Leaning forward, he rested his chin on the nape of her neck.
‘Is my mother-in-law right? Do you still love me?
