Sure-Fire Cure For Insomnia
Grandpa’s words hurt worse than anything Shannon and Queen Bitch could have said.
I stared at him in disbelief.
I kind of knew he would side with Rainey, who had been the apple of his eye since the day she was born.
But I never expected he would be so cruel to me.
Grandpa was still sitting on the sofa.
I squatted down in front of him and looked up at his wrinkled face.
I tried to hold my resentment in check, but when I spoke, my voice was dripping with bitterness.
‘Grandpa, Dad built Candour. It’s his baby. He gave his all for the company. It would never have gotten where it is today without him. Don’t you think I should be the one to take up my father’s mantle?’
Grandpa just scowled.
‘Dad gave you those shares. But you transferred them to Rainey before Dad’s body was even cold in the grave!’
My vision grew blurry with tears.
I held Grandpa’s hand.
It was mottled with age spots.
‘Grandpa, why?’
Why did you treat your oldest son like your personal slave?
Why did you treat me like dirt?
