I blew out a breath and stared at Rainey. ‘You are right. I shouldn’t judge you. But I just want to say, it’s not too late for you to change. You can still have a second chance.’
‘Don’t try and bullshit me!’ she shouted. ‘It’s over!’
‘No, it’s not. I know you are worried about the charges.’ I inched backwards without her noticing.
The wind was getting stronger.

Rainey laughed, a horrible cackle.
I was growing more concerned about the baby.
