Kieran worked fast.
Before the day was over, he proudly presented the result of his arduous search to me.
I fell in love with house at first sight.
It was a two-storey detached house with a red brick façade.
The tiled roof was asymmetric and in the outline of a medieval castle.
There were skylights to let in plenty of light.
The windows on the second floor were made in niches.
Inside, the space was big and modern, designed for both comfort and activities.
It had five bedrooms, an open plan kitchen and dining area plus a large family living area.
Two large sliding doors led out to the backyard with a swimming pool and a barbeque gas grill.
It also came with a double garage.
And a jaw-dropping price tag.
I always thought the phrase ‘cost an arm and a leg’ was just an expression, but in this case, it was an accurate depiction of the cost to obtain this dream home.
Even with our combined bank accounts, we’d have to take out a multiyear mortgage to afford this place.
