I resisted the urge to slap that fake smile off Sarah’s face and returned with one of my own.
‘No thanks needed.’ I waved a hand, dismissive. ‘In fact, I haven’t done much for him. It’s usually Kieran who looks after me. He’s the one who cooks, cleans and does the chores around the house. Says he doesn’t want me to tire myself out.’
I examined my painted fingernails, giving her a chance to see those weren’t the hands of a woman who often had to cook, wash or clean.
A vicious gleam flashed across her eyes but was gone in an instant.
Sarah smiled. ‘The two of you have such a good thing going on. Just like Kieran and I did back then.’
She gave a wistful sigh. ‘I hope I get my memory back soon. I wonder if Kieran did all that for me while I was pregnant.’
I gritted my teeth.
She was reminding me she and Kieran had a baby together.
Mia was incontrovertible proof that Kieran had loved Sarah once, so much so that he was willing to start a family with her.
But I was the one married to him now.
