CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TEN - A Road Paved With Uncertainty
Nia's fingers trembled as she pushed open the glass door of Rivertown Media. The small brass bell above tinkled, announcing her arrival. She took a deep breath, inhaling the scent of fresh coffee and old paper that permeated the quaint office.
The reception area was cozy, with local artwork adorning the walls. A large landscape painting of the Hudson River dominated one wall, while smaller, abstract pieces added splashes of color to the others. Potted plants dotted the corners, their leaves reaching towards the sunlight streaming through the large front windows.
"You must be Nia!" A woman with salt-and-pepper hair and kind eyes approached, her hand outstretched. "I'm Patricia, we spoke on the phone. Welcome to Rivertown Media."
Nia shook her hand, grateful for the warm welcome. "Thank you, Ms. Hartley. I'm excited to be here."
Patricia laughed, a rich, throaty sound. "Oh, please. Ms. Hartley is my mother. Call me Patricia. Now, let me introduce you to the team."
