CHAPTER 41 JOB HUNT BLUES
It was short-lived because the harsh reality that comes with it sets in. Jenna was hunched in front of her bed, on the floor strewn with piles of job adverts and partially filled application forms. On her desk there was a small lamp and the light reflected off the ring on her finger – an engagement ring from Ryan.
But right now, that future seemed so far away and quite unattainable.
Jenna groaned, tossing her head to one side, her hair disheveled. The girl was recently rejected a tech company in Silicon Valley because of the reduction of the budget for new employees. But Ryan had an intended apprenticeship in Los Angeles that was supposed to begin in few weeks.
As if feeling her tension, her phone rang and it was a FaceTime call from Ryan. Jenna replied, forcing a smile as his face came into the frame.
“Hello gorgeous,” Ryan said as he looked at her stressed face and the wrinkles on her forehead. "Rough day?"
