CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY FIVE – DRAGGED TO THE CASE
For the next hour, Rebecca recounted her observations once more, with Jack asking pointed questions and jotting down notes.
"You mentioned the jewelry glinted in the streetlight," Jack said. "Can you describe that glint? Was it more of a sparkle, like diamonds, or a solid reflection, like gold?"
Rebecca closed her eyes, trying to recall the moment. "It was... a sparkle, I think. Yes, definitely more like diamonds than gold."
Jack nodded, scribbling in his notebook. "That's excellent, Rebecca. Details like that can make all the difference."
As they wrapped up their meeting, Jack looked at Rebecca thoughtfully. "You have a good eye for detail. Would you be willing to continue helping with the investigation? Your insights could be invaluable."
Rebecca hesitated. She thought of Luca, of the danger she had left behind in Italy. But then she thought of the thrill she felt piecing together clues, the satisfaction of solving puzzles.
"Alright," she said finally. "I'm in."
