CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY ONE – THEIR FUTURE
As the night of the anticipated attack drew near, tension in the safehouse reached a fever pitch. Everyone was on edge, jumping at every small noise. But in the midst of the chaos, Luca and Rebecca found moments of peace in each other's arms.
The night before the attack, they lay in bed, limbs entangled, hearts beating in sync. Luca traced lazy patterns on Rebecca's skin, his touch sending shivers down her spine.
"What are you thinking about?" Rebecca asked softly, breaking the comfortable silence.
Luca was quiet for a moment, his hand stilling on her hip. "The future," he said finally. "Our future."
Rebecca propped herself up on an elbow, looking down at him. "What do you see?"
Luca met her gaze, his eyes filled with a mixture of hope and vulnerability. "I see us," he said. "Together. Away from all this madness. Maybe... maybe a house by the sea. A bakery for you. A legitimate business for me. Kids, someday, if you want them."
