Chapter 44: Beyond Blame

On Monday morning, before Louis left for work, he received a call from his older brother, Marcus. “Hi, Marcus. How are you?” Louis said as he answered the call. “Hi, brother,” Marcus replied. It was the first time they had spoken on the phone since Marcus had woken up from his coma. “I’m good, brother. Why did you call? Are you okay?” Louis asked, concern evident in his voice. “Oh yes, brother, I’m fine. Could you come by the house before you leave for work today?” Louis was curious about why Marcus was calling him so early in the morning. He hoped that Marcus was okay. “Marcus, are you sure you’re alright? What’s up? Is something wrong?” “No, Lu, I’m fine, I’m really fine. I just wanted to discuss something with you. Something very important.” “Alright, brother. I’ll be there in a jiffy.” After the call, Louis was restless. He knew that something was not right. There was a reason his brother wanted to see him, and Marcus had said it was an issue of utmost importance. Louis w
