Chapter 13 The Blurred Line
Lauren stared at her reflection in the bathroom mirror, the fluorescent lights casting a harsh glare on her eyes and messed hair. Every beat of her heart felt like a drum solo against her ribs, a relentless reminder of the colossal mess she'd made the other day with Louis. The memory of her hand, foolishly reaching out to touch her boss, Mr. willer’s arm, replayed on a loop in her mind.
Lauren, emboldened by a particularly potent tequila, had misread those signals. The look of stunned confusion on his face, followed by a polite but firm dismissal, still sends shivers down her spine.
The thought of facing him, of navigating the awkwardness between them, was enough to make her crawl back into bed and feign illness. But adulting, unfortunately, didn't offer that luxury. With a defeated sigh, Lauren dragged herself out of the bathroom and into the day to prepare for work.
