Chapter 07

NEON's perspective “...who are you?” My chest burned within and my throat was tight as I tried to keep my emotions from erupting, I ground my teeth and ignored her question. ‘Bring the silver handcuff.’ I mind-linked Silas. ‘On it, Alpha.’ His response came almost immediately. I took the handcuffs from his hands when he came close, he retreated his footsteps. I spun and grabbed her left hand. “What are you doing?” There was a slight panic in her voice when I took her hand. I grazed her wrist with my fingers and handcuffed her hand to the bed. “Making sure this doesn’t happen again.” I let go of her hand when I was done. “Stop struggling with it, you will end up getting hurt.” “Why do you care?” She spat angrily, her icy glare fixed on my face. “Keeping you safe from all harm is my priority. I can’t let you get hurt. That’s all you should know.” I held her gaze, my hands placed on both sides of the bed beside her. “Are you ready to talk to me now? Why did you run away? You should have taken my advice and passed through the door rather than jumping through the window.” She let out a cynical laugh. “I asked, who are you?” “Neon Kendrick. That’s all you need to know.” I pressed my lips into a thin line. “You have to stay in this house and can not leave without my permission. Today could have been worse if something had happened to you.” She doesn’t know the danger that is lurking around her if she chooses to leave the house again. I would never choose to handcuff her or bring her harm in any way if only she listened to what I said to her. “Today could have been better if I had escaped.” She scoffed and stared at the blank wall. I exhaled and held her jaw, drew nearer to her. “I told you, the only way for you to leave this house is to fall in love with me,” I spoke calmly. “What if I don’t?” “What’s your name?” She rolled her eyes, I caressed her chin with my finger. “Aria.” She replied with a skeptical look. “You have a beautiful name.” “Aria,” I called. She looked at me but said nothing, she wouldn’t look me in the eye if she knew the kind man that I am and the reputation that I held. But I never wanted my mate to be scared of me. It was one of my fears. “I’m not going to hurt you, trust me.” She huffed and broke the eye contact, I withdrew my fingers from her chin, and with her face turned away, I couldn’t tell the expression she held on her face. ‘Mate is pretty.’ Jax remarked. I know. We have a beautiful mate. “You don’t believe me do you?” “You kidnapped me, and you want me to believe everything that you are going to say to me?” She murmured a few words under her breath. “Unbelievable.” I sighed. I did not expect her to but I did have hopes that she would at least give me the benefit of the doubt. “What do you do? Why do you have such a house in the middle of nowhere?” She raised a questioning brow at me. Tough question. “Business.” I blurt out. I don’t know what else I could say to her because I can’t tell her that I’m an Alpha, a leader of a werewolf pack. “This is where you belong, Aria.” I tuck her hair behind her ears, she bites down a word and relaxes when my hand rests on her cheek. ‘Alpha. The physician is here.’ Silas mind-linked me. I warned him to be careful around Aria and make sure he doesn’t call me Alpha around her and complicate things. ‘Bring him in.’ ‘Yes, Alpha.’ Aria was talking to me but I didn’t hear what she was saying because I was talking to Silas through the mind link. “...are you even listening?” “What did you say?” “Never mind.” She grumbled and averted her gaze from my face. “The physician is here, he’s going to check your wound.” I drop my hand from her face. She glanced around the room, and when the door opened and he came in, she stared between me and Silas. “How did...” She shook her head as if deciding not to go with the question. Silas gestured towards the bed, and he bowed slightly when he saw me. I acknowledge his presence with a short nod. “Roll up your shirt,” I ordered. She was reluctant to do it, and eventually lifted it and turned on her side. The physician was shorter than me with a bald head and mustache, he wore a casual outfit. I wonder if he was coming from the hospital. “Examine her, and see if she has a fracture.” He nodded curtly and started to check the side of her ribs that had some purplish marks. She winced when he touched them with a finger. I growled at him. “I’m sorry.” He muttered and took his gaze back to Aria. I watched closely as he treated her wound and he said he needed to have her scanned, to know if she had a broken rib and see her badly it was. He gave her some painkillers, and Aria was sleeping before we left the room due to the effect of the injections. “...From what I have seen Alpha. I think there’s some crack on her ribs, it’s not that severe she might heal in a day or so but...” The physician lowered his voice with his eyes on the ground. ”It should have been healing but it’s not, that was what I noticed. Alpha.” He toyed with his fingers. “She’s a late bloomer,” Silas told him when I didn’t give him any response. The physician turned and gave him a side look. “I know a human when I see one Alpha.” He lowered his voice. I crossed my hands behind me and nodded. “I reckon that you know your duty as a physician. You give reports of whatever is going on with her to Silas and in no way, should our conversation today leave here. Understand? Else I will have your head for dinner.” I warned wagging a finger at him. “Yes, Alpha.” He bowed. “Lead him out of the house.” I went back into her room and covered her properly with the duvet. “You are going to be quite a handful. Aria.” The corner of my lips tugged into a small smile, staring at her sleepy face. I caressed her face, leaned forward, and was about to place my lips on her lips. I couldn’t control my urge around her. I want her, my wolf wants her, and for the past few days, she was all I could think of. The door flew open. “Neon!” I jerked back from her immediately and snapped my head to the door. The only person that can call me by my name is Diana Crowley. The temporary Luna of the Moonlight Pack, the pack in which I am Alpha.
