29 A Strange Tale
Gavadiol remained silent. In truth, he was in support of the bandit for selfish reasons. For the first time, he wondered truly and deeply why his father never told him of any of these things. He had been a palace guard. So he must have known this Malcolm fellow more closely than the other people in the kingdom. Gavadiol had always thought his father had fled because of the coup. But from the little he could deduce, the coup had been successful. So why had he fled? A guilty conscience? Or perhaps something more? Some extra fact that he wasn't saying.
Regardless, the only person that could give him more information was right here, right now in front of him and this was a chance he wasn't going to miss.
So he just remained quiet even though he knew the doctor was silently seeking for support.
At last the good physician left the room with a, “Suit yourself you horrible man.”
“So you were talking about some fellows, Corrad or something?”
“Yeah,” the shadow hunter sighed. “Malcolm Corr
