“Boy, we have some hard riding to do.” He whispered to his horse. “Are you up for the task?”
“I was made for situations like this, man.” The horse sounded indignant.
“Alright, alright,” Gavadiol interrupted before it could get any further. “I hear you and I believe you. Just get us there in time.”
Sometimes, he felt that the tiresome horse was just seeking for people to talk to, to pass time. Surely, there were fellow horses he could yap around with.
But in the meantime, in terms of getting the job done, the beast was proving himself capable. With each hoof pounding thunderously against initially the cobblestoned streets of Provda and later the rougher terrain of the forest, they ate up distance at an unbelievable speed.
The king was pleased. He felt confident and prepared, armed to the teeth with all the weapons he had on him; his own sword, his wand, the sword of light and the quiver of arrows that Erom Stuttin had thrust into his hands at the last second.
