I knew there was no going back for us, but Sophia didn't.
I didn't understand why she, who used to barely come home once every two weeks, suddenly had so much patience with me. Her change felt almost laughable now.
Sophia's dark eyes stared at me quietly. "Joshua, I'll come home more often from now on."
"It's too late."
It was too late to say things like that. I didn't care anymore whether she came home or not.
After saying that indifferently, I changed the subject. "I'll clean out the master bedroom later to make it easier for Edison to stay."
"Why would you clear out the master bedroom for him?" Sophia looked at me, bewildered, her hand tightening into fists.
The silence I projected now seemed to unsettle her. She looked like she wanted the old me back.
I turned toward her, a mocking smile playing on my lips. "Your lover's moving in. If he doesn't stay in the master bedroom, how else is he supposed to claim his space?"
