CHAPTER 41: A WAKE-UP CALL

I hesitated briefly as my hand reached for the phone. 'what are you doing?'
"I'm just checking in on him," I muttered to myself, "that's just me being a decent human being."
I could hear the voice in my head cackling at such weightless reasoning because there was no reason why I should want to text my ex-husband, especially not fifteen minutes after waking up.
I sighed as I withdrew my hand and then stood up. I had a busy day already, and I should be getting ready.
So why was I thinking of him?
I tightened the robe sash over my slightly protruding stomach, still eyeing the cell phone.
"You blocked him for a reason." I reminded myself firmly with a nod before heading into the bathroom.
I came out fifteen minutes later to meet Crystal in my room, already dressed.
"Ever heard of knocking?" I joked as I readjusted the towel wrapped around my head.
