“Have I been wrong with Charles?” I wondered as I sat beside Amelia, who was already sleeping, her small head heaving up and down.
“He was wrong, though, but I think I was a bit harsh.” I picked up my phone and scrolled through it.
Taylor's number appeared on the screen, and I clicked the call button.
It rang a few times, but no one answered.
“The last time I called, the number was not reachable.” I shook my head.
“I don't think I should judge Charles based on what Taylor said," I murmured. “After all, he hasn’t done anything wrong to me.”
I kissed my sleeping baby, put on my slippers, and walked to the door.
I unbolted it quietly and walked out.
“Hey, Charles,” I called, standing in the doorway that connected the hallway and the sitting room.
He was sitting in the living room, watching Cartoon Network.
His eyes darted up at me and then focused back on the television silently.
