CHAPTER 12: REACHING OUT

I glanced at my reflection in the mirror. My hand ran over my belly. The bump was gradually popping up; it wouldn't be long before everyone knew I was pregnant. I silently wished it was a cryptic pregnancy. That way, no one had to know I was pregnant.
My phone rang through, disrupting the stillness In the room. I quickly searched through my handbag for the phone.
I finally found it. It was Dad calling. I quickly slid my fingers across the screen as I connected with him.
"Hello, Dad, how are you?" I said, my voice chirping like a bird.
"Not so good, haven't you heard?" Dad said, his voice filled with emotions.
"No, I haven't. Is everything okay? I hope nothing bad has happened," I said. I stood up and paced over my room as my thoughts went livid, and I Imagined what could have gone wrong.
He was never like this; his voice was always one to reckon with, but just hearing his voice at that moment. I knew there was a big problem somewhere.
