Chapter 101: Love Turned Intrusive

I had a long day at the office, and it was taking a toll on me already. I leaned back, dropping the file I was reading onto the pile of the others, and then I sighed. I badly wanted to take a break, but those files wouldn’t attend to me. The only thing I could do was stand up and stretch once in a while. In the past hour, I’d stretched about five times.
Still, I didn’t want to go home. I wanted to occupy my mind and keep myself busy. I didn’t want to go home only to have stray thoughts disturb me. It was now more common than it had been in the beginning. Whenever I wasn’t thinking of something else, I would think of Marie, and it took its own toll, too.
Also, Julie would be at home. That was another inconvenience. I didn’t hate having her around, but God knew that her constant intrusions were starting to feel suffocating. Things were moving too fast between us, and she wanted to keep the tempo, whereas all I needed was to slow down.
