Not wanting to take advantage of Layla's generosity, Samantha offered, "Should I cover the rent instead? You just started working, and it's too much to ask you to shoulder all of it alone."
"I've been staying here for free for more than ten days," Layla replied. "Now that I've finally found a job, of course I have to contribute."
Since she insisted, Samantha had no choice but to respect her decision.
She quickly got out of bed to freshen up and then swiftly joined Layla in packing their things. The rental apartment was small, and they didn't have many belongings. In no time, they had everything packed into two suitcases and a few bags.
Their new rental was a bit farther from downtown, but the commute was convenient. It also wasn't as cramped as their previous place. Though the rooms weren't big, they were cozy and clean.
Samantha chose the second bedroom.
A small balcony was even attached to the apartment, making the space feel much more open.
