Chapter 24
When Phoebe saw that the other piece was also what she was looking for, she realized both clothes had been washed.
Usually, once clothes were soaked, they would lose that brand-new look, and the salesperson would definitely notice. How could she possibly go to the store to exchange them now?
She felt like cursing but couldn't take it out on Evelyn, so she swallowed her frustration.
Evelyn, however, didn't think it was a big deal. "The clothes are perfectly fine, Phoebe. You shouldn't exchange them. I've washed them for you, and you can wear them once they dry!
"Look at the fabric; it's really nice! The style is classic, too. You could wear them for five or ten years without them going out of style!"
Phoebe was speechless.
Thinking of the new clothes Natalie bought last night—pink and trendy blouses—while she would still have to wear her old, drab outfits, Phoebe made up her mind. She decided to fish the clothes out of the basin, wring them out, and plan to take them to the store
