"I didn't expect Ms. Smith to have such a fiery temper," someone in the room commented, watching the scene unfold with little surprise. It was as if they had seen this kind of situation before. "Seems like it's that temper Mr. Quigley likes."
"Mrs. Quigley, care for a drink?" Someone intentionally emphasized the term of address.
Wayne's gaze never shifted from Victoria. He showed no concern for her resistance. "Why aren't you going?"
Victoria's hand holding the glass shard trembled slightly, but her feet inched toward the door.
Everyone in the room noticed this motion.
"Mr. Smith, it looks like you're not that interested in rebuilding your company, after all," one of the men remarked. He put his wine glass down, looking visibly displeased. "If that's the case, I'll skip the drink."
