Chapter 77 It Was Not You
William gritted his teeth, his anger barely contained. "From now on, don't bring Charlie to the company again!"
"I…" Alexis choked on a sob. "I didn't want to bring him, either. But when we got home, the housekeeper had gone out to buy groceries. No one was there, and I didn't have the keys."
"Dad, don't be mad."
Charlie sniffled, rubbing his teary eyes. "It was my idea to have Aunt Alexis bring me here. If you want to blame someone, blame me."
Alexis hugged him tightly, then stole a glance at William. Her voice was broken with quiet sobs.
"William, I swear I didn't mean to start a fight. She was the one who called me a homewrecker first. And then she called Charlie a bastard.
"She can insult me all she wants, but saying that about Charlie… of course I couldn't just let it go. I only argued back, but she threw the first punch. Right, Charlie?"
Alexis turned to Charlie expectantly.
In truth, he hadn't seen how it started. He had only rushed in to help once the fight broke out.
