“I’m never partnering up with you again,” Theo sighed after I asked him the nth question of the day and I couldn’t help but laugh because even though he sounded like he actually meant it, I knew he was joking.
“Aww, that’s so sweet,” I replied in the sweetest voice, making him pause and shoot me a look. He then muttered something under his breath and headed away from the gate. “Where are you going?” I asked and he didn’t respond, but he stopped next to the UTV to grab the bag of salt in the back. “Theo!”
“Josie’s rubbing off on you, Katherine,” he muttered, referring to me being annoying, and I smiled at him saying my name again before returning my attention to the chains I was holding. With neither of us talking, the only thing I could hear was birds chirping and the sound of leaves rustling, and I couldn’t help but agree with Theo – silence was nice. When he came back to the gate to drop the bag of salt next to me, he said, “See? Quiet is nice.”
