Chapter 63
Rick's POV
I stood proudly on the prow of my ship, looking around at the fleet that I had spent years gathering, each ship filled to the brim with the men that the Alpha’s who supported me had committed to the cause.
All I was waiting for now was for Bennett to signal the fleet was ready, and we would begin our assault.
Finally, after a tense few minutes, his signal came and the warhorn blared across the sea.
“You heard him, boys! Let’s go!” I yelled to cheers and whoops of anticipation and excitement.
We moved at a steady speed first, trailing behind the first ships and waiting to make sure that Bennett’s recording of the placement of the mines had been accurate. It wasn’t that I didn’t trust him, it was more that I didn’t trust Alpha Ryan not to have somehow managed to change something that would then successfully thwart our attack.
Losing one or two ships wouldn’t be the end of the world, but if we sailed headlong into the minefield without being cautious then we would deserve which
