As the afternoon wore on, they found themselves growing increasingly disheartened. Every school seemed to be in fierce competition, touting their unique programs and impressive statistics. The parents they encountered were equally competitive, each eager to share their child's latest accomplishment or discuss their strategic plans for academic domination.
By the time they'd made their way through half the booths, Ella felt emotionally drained. She looked down at Sophia, who was now slumped against her leg, clearly tired and overwhelmed by the noise and crowd.
"Lucas," she said, tugging on his sleeve. "I think we've seen enough. Can we go?"
