CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY NINE - A New Understanding
"Oh, Lydia," Ella breathed, taking it all in. "It's lovely."
Lydia beamed, practically bouncing on her toes. "Isn't it? Come see the reading nook!"
She led them to a window seat built into one of the large windows, complete with cushions and small shelves on either side. "I can just picture myself curled up here with a good book," Lydia said dreamily.
Lucas, meanwhile, was examining the kitchen. It was indeed small, but well-designed, with ample storage space and modern appliances. "This is actually a really efficient use of space," he commented approvingly.
Mrs. Hamish smiled, clearly pleased by their reactions. "The building has a lot of history," she explained. "My late husband and I bought it years ago and converted it into apartments. We tried to keep as much of the original character as possible while making it comfortable for modern living."
