CHAPTER 22: LONGING FOR HOME
George already spent half a day at the hospital and was bothered about the work he had left undone at the office. He then decided to proceed there, standing up to wear his shoes, which were just right beside the bed. When he did, the whole room started to rotate around him, and he could not stand upright for a moment. He quickly supported himself, holding tight to the edge of the bed. Then, it became clear he was feeling dizzy and had to go home to rest.
At home, George tossed from one side of the bed to another; he could not help but think about Lauretta's impact over the past decade. She meticulously took care of every one of his needs, from feeding to medicine, and he had nothing to worry about while he was with her. As the memories gushed forth, he felt a sharp pain inflicted on his heart, knowing Laurette would not change her decision to divorce.
