Chapter 525
Back in the container, Jacob pressed his wounded palm, trying to stop the bleeding. He knew he had to conserve his strength if he hoped to last until Nicole could rescue him. For the first time, he truly understood the helplessness Nicole must have felt when Griffin had taken her.
Alone, with only his own blood as a reminder of his existence, Jacob felt the crushing weight of loneliness, anxiety, and fear—emotions that knew no gender. He could only hope Nicole would be quick; otherwise, she might arrive just in time to collect his body.
Suddenly, the door swung open with a loud clang. Light flooded in, illuminating Jacob's surroundings. Yet, he remained motionless and silent, leaning against the wall and softly humming a tune.
Griffin stormed in, grabbed Jacob by the collar, and asked, "Did you do this?"
Jacob raised an eyebrow. "Do what? I've been stuck in here the whole time."
However, his demeanor said otherwise. It would be a miracle if Jacob were not behind this.
