Elara felt goosebumps all over.
"Did you not remember Sheila Quill at all? You told me that her son took his own life. You even claimed that she had been mentally unstable for a while now."
But Ashley sounded genuinely confused. She wasn't faking it.
"I can't remember! I don't know who Sheila Quill is. Are you sure I told you that?"
Even Ashley had lost memories of Sheila Quill.
No. It wasn't a memory loss.
Fear suddenly gripped Elara. She hurriedly hung up on Ashley and hurried over to the bathroom.
The merman heard her movement and opened his eyes. He quietly watched her with eyes as clear as a pristine lake.
"Do you remember the people who hurt you that day?" Elara crouched in front of him and asked softly. "The ones who left these scars on you?"
The merman gazed at her in silence for a moment. Then, he shook his head.
Elara was completely stunned.
