I stood before the council, my heart pounding in my chest. The dimly lit conference room, with a large projector board on the wall and flickering fluorescent light, seemed to close in around me as I gave them an overview of the situation at hand and the reason we started recruiting comrades.
“We need to train our own forces,” I insisted, my voice echoing off the walls. “We can’t rely on the council’s security alone when the witches bring the battle to us. They’re not equipped to handle the threats we face.”
These witches fight with magic and illusion, and we need training to defend ourselves. The council members, draped in their expensive six-figure suits, exchanged glances.
I could feel their scepticism like a physical weight pressing down on me. Mr. Bane, Minerva's father with a stern face and piercing eyes, spoke first.
“Dominic, we understand your concerns, but training a separate army is a direct challenge to the council’s authority. It’s not done."
