I was reluctant to put her down because I could sense her exhaustion. Minerva needed a long rest and we both needed a break from the back-to- she was back attacks we'd been receiving just because of the diary I held tightly.
We were almost out of the forest and I would be gently laying her down on the backseat of the car if it weren't for the dark minions that surrounded us.
“Put me down,” she ordered softly and I gently let her slide down from my arms. “Don't worry, I feel better than I look.”
She assured me, already taking the position. I cast a brief glance at the deep scratches and felt relieved as I noted the obvious signs that they were already healing up.
She manoeuvred swiftly so we stood back to back, waiting for the zombie humans to make the first move. “I almost feel bad for killing them,” she whispered. "Yeah, it's quite sad that they used to be human,but we have to or they'll kill us.”
