Chapter 96: Wrong Target
Levi exchanged nods with an officer as he walked into the station's general office. The fluorescent lights overhead cast a sterile glow on the bustling room.
The air was thick with the smell of stale coffee and worn furniture, and most of the staff paid him little to no attention as he walked past their desks. His eyes scanned the room and the cubicles, searching for his acquaintance.
“Mr. Rodriguez,”
He spun around and saw the man he was looking for standing behind him. The smell of cheap coffee wafted from the cup in his hand towards Levi.
“Hello, Clinton. I'm here to see my brother.”
The man gestured towards a door, “This way, sir.”
He spotted his cousin behind the cell, sitting near the window, his glasses slightly reflecting the light from the laptop screen on the table in front of him.
Levi made his way slowly toward him, noticing his tightly clenched jaw and furrowed brows as his footsteps echoed off the linoleum floor.
