Chapter 184: A Rainy Night’s Decision
As the evening wore on, Levi glanced out the window. The rain was pouring down in sheets, turning the night into a blur of water and darkness. He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “I should probably head out before it gets worse.”
Xander, sitting cross-legged on the floor with a toy in hand, looked up with wide eyes. “But it’s raining too much! You can’t go out in that, Levi!”
Levi smiled down at the boy. “I’ll be fine, buddy. I’ve driven in worse.”
Xander jumped to his feet, rushing over to tug at Levi’s hand. “Please stay! It’s really, really bad outside. Right, Mommy?”
Eleanor, who had been watching the exchange quietly, nodded. “Xander’s right, Levi. It’s pouring out there, and it’s late. You should stay here tonight.”
Levi hesitated, glancing back at the window. “I don’t want to impose…”
“It’s not an imposition,” Eleanor assured him, her voice soft but firm. “You’re more than welcome to stay. We have plenty of room.”
