Chapter 36 Sherman's Demands
Sherman scrutinized Elaine with the intensity of a predator studying its prey.
His gaze lingered on the faint mark on her face, causing her to recoil in fear when she noticed.
"It's my fault. I shouldn't have left Cheryl's side," she lamented, clearly rattled by the encounter with Olivia.
"No, it's on me. I didn't anticipate Olivia's behavior," Cheryl chimed in, her voice laced with anxiety as she averted her gaze.
Sherman's demeanor remained eerily calm as he processed the situation.
Without a word, he turned on his heel and exited the room, leaving the trio to exhale in unison.
"Elaine, get some rest, and don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything," Cheryl offered, her voice thick with concern. Duke gave Elaine a nod before gently closing the door behind him.
Alone with her thoughts, Elaine lay flat on her back, acutely aware of the ticking clock.
It took her a while to come to terms with the realization that she was carrying Sherman's child.
