Peter turned his head and watched as Hazel ran off.
Grace tugged at his arm, urging him to check out what she had bought. "Dad, don't worry about Hazel. She just went to her room to change."
Peter scoffed. Yeah, right!
Meanwhile, Hazel dashed upstairs and quickly slipped into her father's bedroom.
Once inside, she pulled out the bag of pasta that she had hidden in her backpack and scanned the room for a good hiding spot. She looked up, down, and sideways, but there was no place to conceal it.
Maybe she could try the closet? No. What if Peter found it while he was changing?
She kicked at the space under the bed. That wouldn't work either since it wasn't hollow.
Hiding it in a drawer would be too obvious. So, where could she stash it?
Her eyes landed on the ceiling light fixture. It looked empty.
Hazel grabbed a stool and carefully stood on it before stealthily tucking the bag of pasta into the light fixture. Once back on solid ground, she couldn't help but feel proud of
