All Wrapped Up

I felt the moon’s reflection beaming down onto my golden fur as I climbed the stairs of my parent’s house. For some odd reason, the moon felt brighter than usual and it felt as if it was calling out to me, providing me with a feeling of comfort and protection. I recalled the events from the past two days in my head, my birthday hadn’t gone as I expected but it was definitely a memorable one. I shifted in my human form quickly and made sure that my eyes weren’t puffy from all the crying I had done on my run back to Silver Shadow Pack, then pulled the handle of the front door in anticipation of seeing my family.
The aroma of strawberries and dark chocolate filled the hallway and it put an endearing smile on my face. Every year, my mother spent hours slaving away in the kitchen to ensure I had my favourite cake on my birthday: red velvet.
