Of course, Aaron didn't undress me just to inspect my wounds. He gently removed my clothes to apply ointment, showing a rare tenderness.
"I caused these wounds, so I should take care of them myself," he said.
The last time he had shown such concern for me was during the few years he had adopted me. Back then, he thought I was pitiful, but his kindness had diminished over the years. There was hardly any left.
I genuinely believed he was simply applying ointment for me, but when his fingers traced my back, I realized I had been deceived.

"I heard the doctor say that my bite would take a long time to heal," he said, his tone carrying some guilt and a strange excitement.
