Tristan glanced at Joanna and said, "Alright. This has nothing to do with you. Leave."
"Okay." Joanna then quickly exited the room to avoid disturbing the two of them.
Tristan had returned early that day, when the sun was still hanging in the sky. He loosened his tie and sat on the chair by the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Genevieve paid him no attention and instead curled up under the blanket.
She had considered asking him for help, but the thought of his cold, mocking expression made her abandon the idea.
As she lay on her side on the floor mat with her back to the window, she had no idea that a pair of icy eyes were fixed on her.
"Do you think she'll beg you the way she begged me?"
Herman's words suddenly echoed in his mind, and Tristan's gaze darkened.
