CHAPTER NINE: WIFELY DUTIES

I walked briskly yet majestically to the meeting hall. It was the first time in my entire life that I was in a hurry.
I didn't lose my aura or worth, but I increased my pace, and Lydia, who was used to my walking style after being my secretary for years, noticed.
"Boss, is something wrong?"
She asked, and I paused.
"I mean, you seem to be in a hurry; is something wrong?"
She rephrased and repeated her question.
"I have a careless wife at home who is pregnant, and the board members are insisting on a face-to-face meeting. What do you expect of me?"
Was the answer my mind gave me, but I pushed it aside.
"I have something important to do."
I said, and she nodded, but I could see from the way her eyes lingered on me that she wasn't satisfied.
We got to the hall; all members were present and were ready for the meeting.
"I apologize for my lateness; I was attending to something."
I apologized to them before taking my seat, and so did Lydia.
"Shall we start?"
