The Farmhouse
‘The place is a tourist destination,’ Kira said. ‘Plenty of flights and trains. We can just take one.’
‘I’m afraid that option is no longer available,’ Austyn said. ‘The entire city and its surrounding area are probably being put under lockdown as we speak. General Saetang runs this place.’
‘You know about him?’
‘I did my homework,’ Austyn nodded. ‘I traced your call to this country, flew to the city on the same day. Gideon moved fast, but left a trail in his haste to leave. I followed it to this place, learned about his involvement with the general.’
‘If we can’t take the plane or the train, how are we going to get out of here?’
‘Leave that to me.’
Austyn carried her in his arms into the adjoining room.
It had a small cot for a bed.
Two rickety chairs and a small wardrobe made up the rest of the furniture.
A naked light bulb swung from the ceiling.
‘This will have to do for tonight.’ He laid her down on the cot.
