An Unlikely Reunion
Kira started with the main building, went from floor to floor, poked her head into the room if the door happened to be open, and apologised when she intruded on a patient’s privacy.
She was exhausted after two hours, but her search drew a blank.
She showed the photo around, but none of them recognised Austyn.
Kira hung her head, dejected.
She plonked herself down on a bench and massaged her sore calf muscles.
The news team would only be staying in Rinton for two days.

Kira scanned the busy hallway.
Her eyes came to rest on a familiar figure.
Kira shot to her feet.
She had to rub her eyes to make sure she wasn’t hallucinating.
The woman was real.
But Kira was soon puzzled.
What was she doing here?
The woman continued walking down the hallway.
On a whim, Kira decided to follow her at a distance.
The woman came out of the building and went to stand under a large elm tree.
