Chapter 113 - Companions
THE PRESENT;
Hurriedly, Jack picked up the phone call, Elsa was standing beside him. Her ears were perked up; ready to get any information that came through the phone's speaker.
"I... I'm in trouble," he heard Matthews' shaky voice. "I know you have no reason to help me but these are wolves. I fear they'll take my life. Please, help..."
The phone was suddenly cut off.
Jack and Elsa were motionless for a moment, they both stared at each other. Even without sharp senses, Jack could tell that Matthews was in trouble. He said something about wolves, it meant the hunch August had about him was right but this wasn't the time to bask in his friend's glory. He had to help the man.
Hurriedly, he ran upstairs, his feet moved so fast he felt like he was leaping off each stair. Soon, he made his way into his room. There was a small silver knife, and a pistol lying on his bed. The pistol was loaded, and he could feel a full magazine pressing against his skin in his left pocket.
