Chapter 179: The dinner
Rose's POV:
The phone's unexpected chime pulled Rose from her reverie,
A soft interruption in the stillness of her home.
She glanced at the screen,
Her heart skipped a beat when she saw David's name.
A smile tugged at her lips despite the weariness
That clung to her like a second skin.
David had this way about him,
A charm that felt like sunlight piercing
Through clouds on a dreary day.
"Hey, Rose,"
David's voice came in warm and inviting. This is a stark contrast to Nathan's cold encounter.
"I've been thinking about you.
Can I come over? I'd love to see you."
Rose hesitated,
A flicker of doubt shadowed her thoughts.
David was sweet,
But her trust had been shaken to its core,
And it didn't rebuild itself overnight.
Yet, his timing was impeccable.
She needed something—someone.
To pull her away from the memories that clawed at her composure.
"Sure, David,"
She replied, her voice a mix of hope and caution.
"I could use the company."
She could almost hear his smile
