The dust was settling after their victory over Agamemnon, but for Mariama, the battle was far from over. She sat in her office late one evening, the city lights twinkling beyond her window, when a soft knock interrupted her thoughts.
"Come in," she called, expecting Manga with more reports.
Instead, Rogan entered, his face a mix of determination and uncertainty. "Mariama, do you have a moment?"
She nodded, gesturing to the chair across from her desk. "Of course. What's on your mind?"
Rogan sat down but immediately stood up again, pacing the room. "I've been thinking... about us. About everything we've been through together."
Mariama felt her heart quicken. She'd sensed this conversation coming for weeks, but had pushed it aside, focusing on Luxor's recovery. "Rogan, I—"
"Please, let me finish," he interrupted gently. "Mariama, these past few months have been the most challenging of my life. But they've also been the most rewarding, because I've been by your side through it all."
