"He told us to deal with it as we go along," Lanky said in a daze.
"Told you it'd be useless getting him." Baldo sighed. "Whatever. We're just doing things as we're paid to, not sacrificing our lives for him. So what if they suspect something? We'll just not come over for the next two days."
"Yeah." Lanky nodded, then turned to pack up.
"Huh?" Baldo was puzzled.
Two minutes later, Lanky carried his bag. "We need to leave, stat."
If there was smoke, there was fire. This couldn't be the first day that they were suspected. And if Luciel had known about this ages ago, he very well might already have located the spying device before the equipment was destroyed.
"I think you're being a chicken, Lanky," Baldo grumbled.
Just then, footsteps sounded at the door.
Lanky's eyes grew wide in fear, and he cursed, "Damn it!" He began frantically looking for an exit.
Even Baldo was nervous. "What should we do, Lanky? I don't want to go to jail yet," he said, his face twisted in fear.
