AURORA.
The next Monday, I was ready for work. Abuela was resting peacefully in my bedroom and Lola was off work today which I was thankful for. Since Abuela had persisted against having a caregiver because she did not want to feel like an invalid, I was thankful that Lola would be there to take care of her instead of me.
My Uber was on its way. I had not wanted to take the bus to work today for some reason. The conversation with Grace still rang in my head and I was pressed to think about the kind of money I’d make from such a huge deal. In fact, without the money from my novel, I could afford to take an Uber to and from work every day if I wanted to.
