Chapter 28
AURORA.
Rebecca accosted me several minutes later. “Aurora, I need you to deliver these documents to Nathaniel once the party ends.”
She stretched a brown rectangular envelope towards me and even though I was not on duty tonight, I cautiously reached forward and took it. The urge to open it, however, nearly overtook me. “Can I ask what’s in it?”
She leaned forward, her eyes twinkling mischievously. “I’d tell you but it’s a surprise.”

“Positive,” Rebecca smiled and it made her look several years younger. “Just don’t open it.”
Reluctantly, I agreed. I tucked the envelope under my arm because I did not trust anyone else not to look at it. And if I couldn’t, no one else would.
